I am a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and have been practicing in Neurological Rehabilitation for the past 20 years. I have a PhD in Medical Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine and Science, University of Fribourg in Switzerland. Currently, I work as a Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of the Cyprus University of Technology, where I manage the Adult Rehabilitation Clinic.
I serve on several Boards, including being the President of the Cyprus Stroke Association, the Secretary of the Stroke Alliance for Europe, a Board Member of the Aphasia Internationale Aphasie, and a member of the British Aphasiology Society. I am also part of the Rehabilitation Implementation Taskforce and the World Stroke Campaign Committee of the World Stroke Organization.
I am actively involved in research projects of the World Stroke Organization, focusing on the needs of young people with stroke, acute stroke rehabilitation in India and Africa, and have completed the development of the Dysphagia, Aphasia & Communication Checklist.
I am passionate about delving into Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in Aphasia Research. By working closely with people who have aphasia, we create and verify tools that assess the impact of aphasia on everyday interactions and measure the quality of life after a stroke.
